Google Talk

Today I started using Google Talk.

My first thought was that the client was more light and usefull than any other Instant Messenger client I have seen so far.

Moreover Google Talk is based on Jabber, a secure and open XML protocol for instant messaging.

Icy Box

Today I got a new piece of hardware. I got an external USB hard disk box and a Maxtor 250 Gb disk with 16 Mb of Cache. Icy Box

Unfortunately the external box is equipped with three cathode pipes with blue light, so already before I got it switched on I disconnected two of the cathode pipes on the sides of the box. I left the connector to the front cathode on because it’s used to signal activity on the disk.

disconnected cathodes
Lucky me they are pretty easy to disconnect

FreeBSD

Today I decided to use some of my spare time to take a closer look on FreeBSD 6.0-BETA2. Since the company I work for only uses FreeBSD and since my FreeBSD skills are not that good so I better need some real experience. It’s more than two years ago I last logged into a FreeBSD powered server.

Hopefully it will run on my notebook without too much driver mangling.
